I know, why not have both at the same time? Sadly some occasions force you to chose. Happily for you, this isn’t one of them. You can have both, but I choose to tell you about the chocolate first.
You can win a $20.00 Ghirardelli Chocolate Gift Card. Why Ghirardelli and not some other maker of fine chocolates? My first western historical, One Moment’s Pleasure is set in San Francisco, 1870, and my hero, importer-exporter Dutch Trahern, has a fondness for chocolate. He fell in love with the dark, semi-bitter, sweet when one of his clients—a Mr. Ghirardelli—offered Dutch a sample. You’ll have to read the book to discover the small part that chocolate plays in bringing Dutch and his heroine, Edith Alden together. However, all you have to do to win the gift card is vote.
Below is a list of four out-takes (I like to call them word-bites) from One Moment’s Pleasure. In your comment tell me by list number which word-bite is most likely to interest you in reading One Moment’s Pleasure. I’ll draw the winner’s name from the word-bite with the most votes. Tell me why you voted for a particular word-bite, and if you voted for the winning out-take, I’ll put your name into the hat twice. Sorry only one vote per person and you must leave your e-mail address to be included. I have to be able to contact you to send the gift card. Winners will be notified at my earliest opportunity and announced on this blog http://rueallynauthorblog.com/ by 9:00 AM EST Feb 15, 2013.
Now a few words (more than a bite) about One Moment’s Pleasure ~ Wildfire Love # 1 available from Crimson Romance Publishing on March 18, 2013.
One Moment’s Pleasure will become a lifetime’s passion when spinster, Edith Alden, embarks on a search for her missing sister. Pretending to be a rich bored woman looking for an interlude with an anonymous male Edith enters the San Francisco bordello where her sister was last seen. She escapes the bordello almost too easily, but she can’t escape the passion ignited by a stranger’s kiss.
Born and raised in the brothels of the California gold rush, Dutch Trahern worked for years to erase a childhood spent committing petty crimes and worse in order to survive. That past comes back to haunt him in the form of a woman he rescues from prostitution. Now his hard won respectability is threatened by an irresistible desire for a woman he shouldn’t want. woman he rescues from prostitution. Now his hard won respectability is threatened by an irresistible desire for a woman he shouldn’t want.

- She cradled one hand against her waist, using the other to fight a losing battle with the decolletage that slid lower with each step as she backed away.
- He couldn’t pull his eyes away. “For petesakes put your clothes back on.”
- For the third time in almost as many days, Dutch had a female at his feet. He stared at the woman sprawled before him. She was beautiful. Naked and beautiful and not moving. How had he gotten into this situation, and who would believe it if he told them?

Sorry to be late. Trying to catch up and at least visit my fellow bloggers. Sounds like a very interesting book!
Great possibilities! They all sounds great but my vote is for #1. I cant wait to see whats gonna happen! Thanks for sharing! And thanks for the awesome hop and giveaway!
I did try to pick some of the most intriguing word bites I could find early in the book. Looks like I succeeded. Thanks for your comment.
#1- makes me wonder what he saw coming
Oh, it was… Guess I shouldn’t give it away, should I.:) What do you think he might have seen coming?
#4 I want to know what led them there and definitely want to know what will happen next!
All of the word bites seem to be rousing curiosity. Very good thing IMHO. Thanks for voiting.
I vote for #1, it sparks my curiosity. What did he see? Is it too late to stop her now?
Wonderful, Elise. This scene is fairly early in the book, so rousing a reader’s curiosity is a real plus.
I like all the word bites, but #4 takes the cake! Nice to see you here, Rue. Hope to see you again at an MMRWA meeting sometime! And I’m with the hop, too, so I’m not in your contest.
Sigh, with the price of gas, MMRWA is probably not in my future unless one of these books takes of and I become the next author mriacle. Say hi to the gang for me.
The story sounds intriguing Rue! Thanks for sharing.
Intriguing is good. Thanks for commenting Jenna.
Just wanted to stop by and say great job everyone. You all have done MFRW so proud!
It’s fun to be among colleagues.
Enjoying the blog hop so much fun to see different author sites.
Isn’t it. I really like seeing the differences. Like with our writing, we aren’t all carbon copies. Thanks for stopping by.
Woo! Rue, your site looks awesome!
Thanks Kayelle. I did the banner/header myself.
I vote for #2 because it makes me wonder why her decolletage is slipping and how the heck she got herself into that situation!
I live in San Francisco for year and had the extreme pleasure of going to Ghiradelli’s ice cream parlour right down near the water. OMG–heaven!! The caramel filled Ghiradelli’s are my favs in the chocolates department. Bravo for giving away the scrumptious treat, Rue!
I love San Francisco and will visit any chance I get, so setting a book there was a treat. Watch my website for my blog tour announcements. One of my stops will tell about following the Barbary Coast trail and how it helped me write this book.
I like bite #2 because of the touch of humor, and the way it betrays her mixed feelings physically.
Trix, thank you so much. I always have trouble writing mixed feelings. My critique partners used to tell me I was being inconsistent. Seems I’ve gotten past that.
I vote for bite #1, because it leaves me wondering what exactly she is about to do, and if she will or will not go through with it. It draws you in and makes you want to check out the book to see what’s going on!
Celina, you must like living on the edge. Glad that bit of anticipation came through for you. Thanks.
I vote for #4 because his true character will come out in the next few minutes. Will he be gentle? or pick her up and throw her on a bed, cover her and walk out?
Very perceptive, Marlie. Do you review, write, edit?
Writer of Romance – just self-pubbed my first! On the blog hop, too!
Congrats Marlie.
Hands down it’s #4. Really catches the interest.
*waves* hello fellow hopper.
Thanks kitty. I like them al. Could you be a bit more specific about what it is in # 4 that catches your interest?
How had he gotten into this situation, and who would believe it if he told them? that line sticks out to me the most as attention grabbing.
Thanks for clearing that up, Kitty. Your comment is very helpful.
I vote for #1. So many possibilities…is she going to smack him, kick him, or kiss him? It all sounds like just too much fun.
Hopping on to the next blog.
Mona, loved your answer. Writing this book was a lot of fun, so I want readers to get that experience too.
This sounds like an interesting book. Love your cover.
Thanks Ella, The artist worked very hard at getting just the right contrast.
